The Past is Very Small by lauren-rabbit The Past is Very Small by lauren-rabbit
This tiny little collage was the first thing made for Drowning. I chose not to use it but I think it is a little jewel. Too cruel for the book, though. 'Drowning' is in its' own way a hopeful book. Oddly hopeful, but still.
I do not recall who I was when I made this

The past is going or gone ( details here: [link])

and the only things that were spared are the remaining copies of 'Evidence' and 'Drowning'.
(Details of Evidence are here: [link] )

And this tiny little collage. It fits in the palm of the hand.

They are the last men standing. The former is too rare to burn away and the latter too indicative of where I came from..

Now that it's all been wiped away I find myself at a loss as to what to do.

great picture :)

i think the contrast between the sunlight in the background and the dark picture in the foreground is very powerful and has something really hopeful. yeah, it's a very hopeful picture at all...

(how did you do the sky texture? it looks like brushstokes or a wallpaper...)

The background is a print on ortho-lith film, the back of which I painted with acrylic paint-hence the brushstrokes. The front is a 35mm contact print.

the past is only very small in relevance to the very large future. otherwise, it's quite big.

As a whole, looking closely at mine for the past month + I found myself surprised how little there was of evidence.
Perhaps that's why I photograph.
